Arkansas to receive emergency funds to repair storm-damaged roads

(KAIT) - Several counties across Arkansas will receive extra money to repair roads damaged by severe storms and flooding.

According to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, the Federal Highway Administration is providing $14,209,043 to AHTD.

The money will be used to repair damage to the state's highway system caused by storms and flooding from December 2015 to January 2016.

After those storms, nearly every county in northeast Arkansas was part of a disaster declaration.

According to AHTD, the flooding caused "extensive pavement damaged and erosion at many bridge and culvert locations" along with embankment erosion on several highways.
