JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - One of the biggest and tallest eyesores in downtown Jonesboro is being looked at again.
Bill Campbell, director of communications for the city of Jonesboro, said the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality came to do studies on the former Citizen Bank Building.
The building has been empty for years now.
ADEQ recently began stage one of the building, with structural evaluations have also been completed.
Those evaluations found that the building is structurally sound, even though high winds have knocked out windows.
Many are wondering what is in store for the building in the future.
"We don't know exactly where things stand, but we hear enough, and there's just enough buzz about the bank building to believe that something good is going to come there," Campbell said.
Campbell said Mayor Harold Perrin has been in contact with several owners of the building, and many ideas for the vacant building have been thrown around.
