(KAIT/TALK BUSINESS & POLITICS) -

A recent poll from Talk Business & Politics/Hendrix College showed that roughly a third of voters approved of the Arkansas legislature's work this session, with about a quarter of voters undecided.

The poll, done April 4 with 550 voters, gave the Republican legislature a 32% approval rating, 44% disapproved while 24% did not know.

However, the 32% rating was slightly lower than the 35% rating found in a survey two years ago.

The results included:

Q: Do you approve or disapprove of the job the Arkansas Legislature did during its recently completed session?

32% Approve

44% Disapprove

24% Don’t Know

The poll also asked the following question about the recent guns on campus bill.

Q: Last week the legislature passed a bill that amended the “guns on campus” legislation passed earlier in the session. The new bill prevents concealed carry holders with enhanced training from carrying guns at some collegiate athletic events, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, at the Arkansas State Hospital. Do you support or oppose these changes?

53% Support

38% Oppose

9% Don’t Know

The poll also showed that while 59% of Democrats and 50% of Independents disapproved of the legislature's work, Republicans favored the work of the legislature by a 47-27% margin.
