WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

Scott Cemetery in Walnut Ridge has been nominated to be included as part of the National Register of Historic Places.

The state review board of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program approved a nomination for the cemetery off Highway 91.

One cemetery board member said he has been helping clean-up the property for years an is happy it may soon be on the registry.

"It makes me feel proud," said Harold White.

White said he hopes the property can remain well-kept so that it can be a respectful resting place for his family members.

"I hope we can keep it that way been a lot of people going out there and driving through the cemetery, rutting it up," he said. "We just go out there and try to level the places off keep it nice."

The registry office will now evaluate the nomination and then decide whether to include it in the National Register.
