3 people seriously injured in separate crashes

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (KAIT) -

Three people from Missouri are in the hospital after two separate crashes on Thursday.

One crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on U.S. 63 at Koshkonong.

Phillis E. Jackson, 39, of Kansas City, MO was heading south in a 2005 Nissan when it went off the road and overturned, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

She was first taken to a West Plains hospital before being flown to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries. It is not known if she was wearing a seat belt.

Hours later in Stoddard County two men were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash.

MSHP stated the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Missouri Highway 25 near Aquilla.

James W. Charles, 38, of Dexter was driving a 2007 Chevrolet HHR south when it crossed the centerline and hit a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado head on, the investigating trooper stated.

The driver of the truck, Michael J. Bragg, 27, of Cape Girardeau, was airlifted to a Cape Girardeau hospital. Charles was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital.

Both men were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
