Man injured, arrested after officer strikes him with taser

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police arrested a Hoxie man after he ran from an officer and nearly got hit by a vehicle.

Early Saturday morning, JPD officer Trey Chism pulled over a truck for a brake light out at Highland and Fair Park.

According to the report, police searched the vehicle then searched the driver and passenger.

The passenger identified himself as Glenn Tribble, which police said did not match the return.

When Officer Chism confronted the passenger, later identified as 46-year-old Kevin Morris, about the discrepancy, he took off running down Highland.

Police say the man ran into traffic and was nearly struck by a truck.

The report stated that the officer eventually pulled his taser and yelled at the suspect.

Morris kept running from police and that's when Officer Chism deployed the taser.

The suspect fell and suffered knee and elbow injuries. Morris reportedly cut his head open, too.

EMS transported Morris to St. Bernards Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

He faces several charges including fleeing, obstructing governmental operations, failure to appear, and an out of town warrant.
