CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Fire crews responded to a house fire in the 500-block of Craighead County Road 507 near Lake City Tuesday afternoon.

The homeowner, Derrick Williams, said ten kittens and two dogs were rescued from the home when fire officials from Lake City arrived.

Williams said when he and his three-month-old son arrived home, he saw smoke and called 911.

"I don't have anywhere to stay now," Williams said. "Got to find somewhere. I got people to take car of me though. God will take care of me."

Ron Nunnally with the Lake City Fire Department said the fire started in the attic and spread to rooms upstairs.

Nunnally said at least half of the home was damaged.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
