WILSON, AR (KAIT) -

A Manila man died after he fell through a skylight, investigators say.

The incident happened Wednesday morning, April 12, at the Rivercrest High School Bus Garage, 48 Cortez Kennedy Ave. in Wilson.

According to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office report, Charles Hamm was on the roof repairing a damaged skylight when he fell.

A man, who was on the roof with Hamm, said he was looking toward the south end of the roof and Hamm was behind him.

The witness said he did not see Hamm fall, but heard him.

When he looked through the skylight, he saw Hamm laying on his back on the concrete floor. He was not moving or making any sound, the report said.

The witness then called 911 and waited for someone to hold the ladder so he could get down.

Deputy Coroner Tresia Seaton pronounced Hamm dead at the scene. An ambulance crew took the body to a Blytheville hospital.

Seaton said Hamm’s body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock to confirm the cause of death.
