Tropical Storm Arlene forms in the north Atlantic

(RNN) – Hurricane season doesn’t start for another month, but the first tropical storm of the year has formed in the Atlantic.

Tropical Storm Arlene has sustained winds of 50 mph and is expected to dissipate on Friday.

It’s located 930 miles west of the Azores.

There are no watches or warnings in effect and the storm is not expected to impact the United States. 

Hurricane season officially starts June 1.
