2.5 magnitude earthquake hits near SC/GA border

COLUMBIA COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

Shortly before 2:00 a.m. Friday morning, many CSRA residents felt a rumbling beneath their feet. Some on social media described it as a loud boom.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was a 2.5 magnitude at a depth of 5.1 miles. The epicenter of the earthquake was at 33.553°N 82.105°W, putting it right at Jones Creek Golf Club along Evans to Locks road.

No damage from the earthquake has been reported.

    The Burke County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly crash that happened Thursday evening. A Ford truck was traveling down Hwy 25 around 6:15 p.m. At the same time, a 1996 Mercury sedan was traveling west on Allen Road and pulled into the median of Hwy 25, attempting to cross to Campbell Circle.
