JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - BPL Plasma in Jonesboro hosted a plasma drive in honor of a Region 8 girl Saturday.

Two years ago, Analeigh Laws was diagnosed with a rare inflammatory disease that affects only one in every million children.

The fight to save her life began with treatment similar to that of a cancer patient.

Her mother April Laws said Analeigh started off with rashes on her face and hands, which later led to swelling and muscle weakness.

Her daughter's medication is made from human plasma.

"She has been through vigorous treatments of steroids, methotrexate chemo injections, she goes to the hospital each month," April said. "The plasma that people are donating today for the plasma drive goes to this immune globulin product and makes the product that helps her so much."

If you did not make it to the plasma drive Saturday, BPL Plasma takes donations any day of the week.
