CORNING, AR (KAIT) - The Clay County Courthouse in Corning will soon get some new signage in their parking lot.

The Corning Beautification Committee plans to replace around 20 signs.

According to committee organizer Drew Calhoun, the signs that designate officials and handicap parking have not been replaced in 15 years.

One woman who works at the courthouse says the new signs are much needed.

"It looks a lot better than what we have," said Deputy Collector Crystal Guthrie.

Guthrie said she is looking forward to the installation of the new signs.

"I think that any improvement will help the town and the courthouse itself," she said.

Calhoun said he expects installation to be done in about two months.

Clay County Judge Mike Patterson said he also plans to apply for two grants for both county courthouses in Piggott and Corning.

He said the grants would help with renovating and improving the landscape on the properties.
