Money raised for City Youth Ministries stolen

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Instead of stealing second base, police say a thief entered a pickup truck and stole money collected during a charity softball game.

A man reported to Jonesboro police Monday afternoon that someone had stolen $1,136 intended for City Youth Ministries from his vehicle.

The theft occurred sometime between 10:37 Sunday night and 1:37 Monday afternoon while parked in the 1800-block of Aggie Road, the incident report said.

The 20-year-old victim said he noticed the money, which he had raised during a recent softball game, was missing from his pickup truck's center console when he went to work.

The man said he had locked his truck, but said there was no damage to the vehicle.

According to the report, the man mentioned that "there is a lot of pedestrian traffic around his residence."

The case has been turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division for review.
