JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Instead of taking cash, police say a thief recently stole a different kind of green.

David Gilbert of Gilbert Industries, 5611 Krueger, reported Monday morning that someone took five trees.

Gilbert said on April 20 he planted five Thuja Green Giant trees on the east side of his business’s parking lot. He placed the value of the trees at $844.

When he arrived at work Monday, April 24, they were gone.

Gilbert said he did not know who might have taken the trees. He provided the police department with photos of tire tracks left in the mud near the trees.

A similar theft occurred Sunday in the 2200-block of Haag Brown Reserve.

Glenn Tacker of Stonebridge Construction reported someone in a bright blue Ford pickup truck pulled up around 6 a.m. and stole several sections of sod and bushes worth $1,000.

Surveillance cameras recorded the theft, the incident report stated.
