MOUNTAIN VIEW, AR (KAIT) - After receiving numerous complaints from concerned neighbors about too many people visiting a Mountain View man's home, law enforcement officers paid a visit and left with a pound of marijuana and the man in handcuffs.
Deputies with the Stone County Sheriff's Office, along with 16th Judicial Drug Task Force and Mountain View Police Department, executed a search warrant Tuesday at the home of 56-year-old Benjamin R. Smith.
Sheriff Lance Bonds said the search warrant came after his office received numerous complaints about the "high volume of traffic and the dealing of marijuana with 1,000 feet of a church."
He said citizens were also concerned because children are frequently present in the neighborhood.
During the search, he said investigators found approximately one pound of marijuana, a firearm, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
Officers arrested Smith and charged him with maintaining a drug premises withing 1,000 feet of a church; simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms; possession of marijuana over four ounces with the purpose to deliver; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
