WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - It's finders keepers for those wanting to pick up firewood from a local park. But there are some rules to follow.
According to the City of Walnut Ridge Facebook page, 450 to 500 rick of firewood is available for free from Stewart Park to Lawrence County residents.
The city is asking for volunteers to remove the wood that is already on the ground and cut into firewood lengths.
A volunteer worksheet and list of rules and regulations will be available at the city hall on Thursday. Certain restrictions apply.
Volunteers must pick up a worksheet before removing any wood or they will be fined, the post stated.
The city stated the effort is to improve the health of the wooded area at the park and to use the trees that have been cut down.
