Road project bids approved in 4 counties

On Thursday, the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department announced bid approval for road projects in four counties.

The following has been approved by the Arkansas State Highway Commission:

Clay County

  • Resurface 1.9 miles of U.S. Highway 67, starting at Corning and continuing westward. Delta Asphalt of Arkansas, Inc. of Paragould was awarded the contract at $565,897.71.

Craighead County

  • Resurface 1.5 miles of State Highway 49 in Jonesboro. The work will extend from Paragould Drive to State Highway 91. Asphalt Producers, LLC of Jonesboro was awarded the contract at $555,371.56.
  • Resurface 1.4 miles of State Highway 18 between State Highways 63B and 18S, in Jonesboro. Asphalt Producers, LLC of Jonesboro was awarded the contract at $515,249.07.

Mississippi County

  • Resurface 3.5 miles of State Highway 325, near Luxora. The project will be located between State Highways 158 and 119. Delta Asphalt of Arkansas, Inc. of Paragould was awarded the contract at $781,602.22.

White County

  • Resurface 0.9 miles of State Highway 385, between Midsouth Drive and Raines Road, in Judsonia. Delta Asphalt of Arkansas, Inc. of Paragould was awarded the contract at $354,852.89.
  • Resurface 1.5 miles of various city streets in Georgetown to include: Pecan Street, Riverside Street, Center Street, Willis Street, Pearl Street, Donald Akers Lane, 1st Street, 2nd Street, and Bessie Lane. Delta Asphalt of Arkansas, Inc. of Paragould was awarded the contract at $233,789.30.
  • Resurface 2.4 miles of State Highway 36, between U.S. Highway 67B and State Highway 367, in Searcy. Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville was awarded the contract at $1,287,426.10.

According to AHTD, the projects are scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather pending. They are expected to be completed by mid-2017.
