Woman killed in Pemiscot Co. crash

PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KAIT) -

A Missouri woman was killed following a crash that involved three vehicles.

Sonya J. Cherry, 56, of Festus died after the crash, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Pemiscot County on Interstate 55 southbound at the 15.2-mile marker.

According to the crash report, Cherry was riding in a 2016 Honda that was stopped in traffic along with a 2003 Kenworth.

A 2015 GMC truck driven by Jeffery Bailey of Dyess, AR struck the Honda in the rear and pushed it into the Kenworth, MSHP stated in the report.

Cherry was airlifted to a Memphis, TN hospital where she was pronounced dead about two hours later.

The driver of the Honda, 31-year-old Allison Venuto of Pevely, was also airlifted to a Memphis hospital in serious condition.

No other injuries were listed.

All those involved were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
