JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - People in Jonesboro spent the day on Friday learning about restoring tombstones at the Jonesboro City Cemetery.
An expert from Connecticut came to Jonesboro to teach them what kind of liquid to use and how to scrape them without damaging the tombstone.
Holly Hope, a representative for the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, said the program is to show the public proper maintenance techniques for the cemetery.
"It's just to educate people on the best practices in a historic cemetery so that you don't do more damage than already done by nature or by ill-advised repairs," Hope said.
The event continues Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
The workshop is free, but organizers advise you bring knee pads, gloves, and something for the rain.
