JONESBORO - It's official.  Rep. Dustin McDaniel (D-Jonesboro) has announced he will run for the office of Arkansas Attorney General.   McDaniel made the announcement in cities across Arkansas on Wednesday.

"Amanda and I gave it prayerful thought for a long time and it is something that has to be right for your family.  It has to be something you and your family want to do together because it is a sacrifice, and a lot of hard work.  But we're really excited about it,"  McDaniel said.   He is married to the former Amanda Miller of Searcy.

McDaniel says he will use his experience as a police officer, lawyer, and legislator to guide him if elected.   McDaniel has spent much of his time in the legislature working to lower the cost of prescription drugs.   He says he will continue to be an advocate for that and other issues facing Arkansas families.

"It is symbolic to start on my front porch and go to front porches across Arkansas," McDaniel said.   Later, he made stops in Little Rock, Texarkana and Fayetteville.

Current Attorney General Mike Beebe has announced he will run for Arkansas Governor in next year's election.
