(WTFS/CNN) - A motorcyclist flew off his bike when he ran over a 10-foot alligator early Friday morning in Wimauma, FL.

He suffered injuries that the Florida Highway Patrol said were not life-threatening. The alligator was not so lucky.

The 10-foot-9-inch animal was barely alive when private trappers took it, WFTS reported.
