Man dies after shooting in South Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man was killed after police said he was shot multiple times in a drug-related incident at the Napier-Sudekum public house development in South Nashville early Monday morning.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. when the 26-year-old victim came to the area to make a drug purchase.

He parked his car at 24 Lafayette Street and walked over to the parking lot at 901 First Avenue South where he was involved in an altercation with three to four people.

A possible witness told police the victim was arguing with two other men and was shot.

Police found the victim outside with life-threatening injuries from two gunshot wounds. He was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he later died.

The victim was later identified as William Drake. Investigators believe he drove to the area to purchase drugs.

According to the witness, the suspects are black males, one wearing black pants and a black shirt and the other wearing a gray thermal shirt.

Hermitage Precinct detectives are pursuing active leads as they work to identify the persons involved in the murder.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
