KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A man has died from his injuries after being shot during an argument early Monday morning.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Turreze Harris.

The shooting happened about 2 a.m. in the 3800 block of E. 71st Street. When officers arrived they found Harris suffering from a gunshot wound.

Harris was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Police say they are starting to see a trend when it comes to arguments and violent crimes.

"I think a lot of the violent crime that we're seeing right now, is an issue of resolving their conflicts with violence," Kansas City Police Department Public Information Officer Stacey Graves said.

James Reed has lived in the neighborhood for more than 30 years and says he woke up to people yelling in the middle of the night.

The next thing Reed knew, the police were on his doorstep. He says the neighborhood has been family-friendly, until recently.

"At that time at time at night, two or three o'clock in the morning, we don’t quite know what’s going on here on this street," Reed said.

Reed says he’s known most of his neighbors for many years but lately he’s noticed a lot of unfamiliar faces on his street.

"It’s not the same as it used to be," Reed said. "You have different people that don’t even live in the neighborhood coming over."

Police closed E 71st Street while they searched the area. It has been reopened.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477.
