LITTLE ROCK, AR - St. Vincent Health System and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock are expanding a scholarship program that increases the number of new nursing graduates.

The program is to get more funding and add teaching staff.

The number of nurses who graduate from UALR varies, but 84 registered nurses completed the program in May. Officials say that without the scholarship program, the number would have been 64, as it was a couple of years ago.

The two institutions hope to boost the number of Arkansas nursing graduates by 100 a year within a few years.
