Medical Director: State Mental Hospital Improving

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The medical director of the State Hospital in Little Rock where Arkansas mental patients are treated has told legislators that he is trying to make the facility safer and is hiring consultants to reorganize its police force.

The hospital has been under fire in recent weeks after an independent report was released by mental health advocates accusing the hospital of mistreating patients.  But hospital medical director Larry Miller told legislators yesterday that he thinks he has made a lot of progress although there is still work left to do.
