Walnut Ridge, AR-- Four main highways, two railroads, and an airport sounds like a big city, but Walnut Ridge is still waiting for development.
In Thursday night's Good Neighbor Communtiy Meeting, we asked what stories viewers would like to see. Lawrence Co. resident Lloyd Clark said he feels there should be more done on Walnut Ridge, and what they have to offer new industries.
"It doesn't take a genius to read a map and see that all the roads converge at Walnut Ridge and Hoxie. I'm suprised there isn't more done in that area."
We talked to Ernest Briner, Chamber of Commerce Board Member, who said their infrastructure is appealing to developers, but there's not been much progress.
"Transportation is not an issue here. We are extending our runways on the airport and look at our railroads and highways. We're working on the bypasses, which appeal to newcomers."
Briner says this will help growth in the community by bringing in businesses and new families.
Jerol Swaim, President of Williams Baptist College says they are already making adjustments for potential developers.
"We've added a new Administration Building, a Post Office, and a new Bookstore. We can already feel the growth from Jonesboro."
