HOXIE, AR (KAIT) -

When was the last time you had your cholesterol checked? What about your blood pressure?

Free screenings are available for both of those and many other tests. The community health screening happens Thursday, Sept. 7 at the Kenneth Quarry Community Center in Hoxie from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

It’s a first for students enrolled in medical office management and JAG courses at Hoxie High School.

"We’re super excited about it,” Zoe Treadaway, Hoxie High School senior said. “I’m an aspiring physician’s assistant.”

“I’m planning on being a pharmacist,” Luke Allen, also a Hoxie High School senior said.

Medical professionals will be on hand conducting the screenings.

Services offered include blood glucose screening, blood pressure checks, measurement of body fat, cholesterol screening, measuring of lung capacity, heart rate, oxygen levels, chair exercises, nutritional aid in meal preparation, smoking cessation, measurement of second-hand smoke, breast health education and dental hygiene education.

“They’ll check your oxygen levels,” Allen said. “Just a lot of different screens and services that could potentially save your life.”
