Offbeat: Dog On Wheels

RANDOLPH, CO.-- Two years ago Sam broke his back and is in a wheelchair, but that hasn't slowed him down a bit.

Sam is a golden retriever who was attacked by a black bear back in 2003. When the vet told his owners Randall and Rhonda Bounds he'd have to be put to sleep, they began looking for other options.

What they found was a number of companies that make wheels for dogs. The Bounds' sent in Sam's measurements, and he's been rolling around their 80 acres ever since.

Sam's attached with a harness and sling, hooked up to an aluminium rig with two bicycle tires.  The Bounds' say it took him about a month to get used to his new wheels, but once he figured out that was his way to get around, there was no stopping him.
