PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway was reopened late Wednesday night after it was partially closed for hours due to a deadly crash.

The southbound closure started around 5 p.m. at Indian School Road but the crash was closer to Thomas Road.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, three people in their 20s were in a work truck and lost control. They hit a metal light pole. One man was crushed inside the work truck and died.

The two others were thrown from the truck. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition but should survive, firefighters said.

Aerial video shows the work truck was nearly wrapped around the metal light pole.

A pickup truck and a car appear to have minor damage.

The southbound lanes were reopened just after 11 p.m.

The northbound lanes remained open.

An investigation is underway.
