Federal Judge Blocks Missouri's Attempts to Regulate "Sexy Billboards"

AUGUST 3, 2005 - Posted at 5:06 p.m. CDT

KANSAS CITY, MO - A federal judge has again upheld the constitutionality of a state law limiting sexually oriented billboards.

U.S. District Judge Gary Fenner earlier denied a temporary restraining order and preliminary injuction.  The owners of a Kansas City strip club and a company that operates adult bookstores challenged the law, claiming their free-speech rights were violated.

Fenner granted the state's request for summary judgement yesterday and denied the same request from the businesses, ending the case in Missouri's favor.
