NEW YORK (AP)_ "Chappelle's Show is over, man. Done." That's what Charlie Murphy tells TV Guide.

Murphy, says Dave Chappelle's show was "like the Tupac of TV shows. It came out, it got everybody's attention, it was a bright shining star, but it burned out."

A spokeswoman for Comedy Central says the network has always said the door is open for Chappelle to return. The channel's chief met with Chappelle June Third and the spokeswoman says that was the last time they talked.

The highly acclaimed show had begun shooting a third season when the star disappeared, turning up in South Africa. Since returning to the US, Chappelle has done some impromptu stand-up gigs at Los Angeles comedy clubs but has otherwise stayed out of sight.
