Annual Batesville Parade

August 6, 2005--Posted at 6:00 p.m. CST

BATESVILLE--The 62nd annual White River Water Carnival Parade took over downtown Batesville Saturday morning.

It was the kickoff for the day’s activities, which included car and motorcycle shows, concerts and plenty of food and fun.

It was a hot day, but that didn’t stop hundreds of people from turning out for the city’s parade.  It was an event for all ages and all types of people.

Part of the parade included a “kiddie parade,” with about 15-20 participants.  Then, there were floats, beauty queens, and even politicians.  Gubernatorial candidate, Asa Hutchinson, was there, as well as Congressman Marion Berry.

What the crowd most looked forward to, however, was the free candy!  Many parade participants threw out free candy to the crowd as they passed by.
