NEW YORK (AP)_ Dana Reeve says she's drawing on the strength of her late husband, Christopher, to help her face lung cancer.
Reeve has released a statement saying she's been diagnosed with lung cancer and is "currently undergoing treatment."
She says she has an excellent team of physicians and everyone is "optimistic" about her prognosis.
Reeve, who's 44, spent nine years caring for her husband after he was paralyzed in a horse-riding accident in 1995. He died last year.
Reeve says "now, more than ever, I feel Christopher with me as I face this challenge." She says he was the "ultimate example of defying the odds."
Reeve is the chairwoman of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. It funds research on paralysis.
