LA Prosecutors Will Not File Criminal Charges Against Paparazzi In Witherspoon Chase

LOS ANGELES (AP)_ The paparazzi may have terrified Reese Witherspoon by chasing her from her gym to her home, but LA prosecutors say they didn't commit a crime.

Prosecutors say they will not file criminal charges against the photographers.

William Hodgman tells the Los Angeles Times "in this specific instance, we couldn't prove any criminal behavior by the paparazzi."

Witherspoon says photographers swarmed her car in April as she was leaving the gym, tried to force her off the road and surrounded her when she reached her gated community in West Los Angeles.

The photogs tell authorities they were just trying to tell her that one of their colleagues had scraped her vehicle.

Authorities say they examined a videotape of the incident and, while they have "no doubt" Witherspoon was besieged by the paparazzi, they don't have proof that she was detained.
