CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Police say a Weiner man broke a teen's jaw and then threatened to shoot the victim's father.
Authorities issued a warrant for the arrest of 21-year-old Ryan Seth Soden on Dec. 18 for an incident that allegedly occurred on Dec. 9. Soden was taken into custody two days after the warrant was filed.
A probable cause affidavit states a 17-year-old was at a party on Dec. 9 off Highway 141. The teen said Soden asked him to "step outside and talk," and when he did, Soden allegedly hit him and knocked him down.
"He said Soden then kicked him in the face several times," the affidavit states. "Other witnesses reported the same thing."
When Soden left, the victim's father picked him up. When they left the party, the report states they saw Soden in a lot off of Highway 141.
"[Victim's father] reported he stopped to ask Soden why he had attacked his son," court documents state. "Soden pulled a handgun from his truck, jacked a round in the chamber and told [victim's father] he'd put a hole in him."
The father then took his son to a Jonesboro emergency room. The teen was then sent to Memphis.
"His jaw is broken, he has teeth knocked out and will probably require cosmetic surgery according to the father," the affidavit stated.
Soden faces charges of 2nd-degree battery and aggravated assault. Each class-D felonies carries the potential for up to 6 years behind bars and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
On Thursday, District Court Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Soden and set his bond at $3,500.
He's been ordered to appear in court again on Jan. 29.
