Local BBQ Brothers Star on Reality TV Show

August 12, 2005--Posted at 5:30 p.m. CST

JONESBORO--A couple of Region 8 brothers will be featured on Reality TV on Saturday (August 13, 2005).

Lee and Michael Quessenberry of Jonesboro competed in a cooking competition on “Allstar BBQ Showdown,” a reality show on the Outdoor Life Network.

The Quessenberry brothers grew up with a passion for BBQ.  Their father, Jim Quessenberry, was a two time world champion in BBQ cooking, and, he taught his sons everything they know about BBQ.

“As soon as we could light the fire without burning out hands, he let us cook just about ay kind of meat that we wanted to throw on there,” Lee Quessenberry said.

Jim passed away in 2000, but he’s remained a BBQ legend, and, that legacy, carried on through his sons, is what caught the attention of television producers.

“That’s how we got picked,” Lee Quessenberry said,  “Because of a cookbook that was written 10 years ago that featured my dad.”

The brothers battled against two tough competitors at this year’s Memphis in May.  You could say they were the underdogs, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t have a fair chance.

The episode featuring the Quessenberry brothers will air Saturday, August 13, at 9 p.m. on the Outdoor Life Network.   For more information, go to www.olntv.com.
