JPD investigating goose shooting incident

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - While it might be goose season in Arkansas, that does not make it okay to pull out a shotgun and shoot one within Jonesboro city limits.

Police are looking for a man who did just that.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, Officer Nicholas Dumond responded to a call of shots fired near Richardson Road and Longcrest Street.

The woman who called 911 said while sitting in her home she heard a "loud bang that she believed to be a gunshot."

When the woman stepped outside her home, she reported seeing a man carrying a dead goose.

The woman told Dumond the man walked to a residence in the 3700-block of Remington Drive where she said he dropped off the bird then left in a silver Ford pickup truck.

Dumond stated in his report that he attempted to make contact at the residence, but no one answered.

He did "locate multiple shotgun shells lying in the grass of this residence."

The officer notified an animal control officer who said they would contact the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
