LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Carell has Number 1 with $20.6 million `Virgin' debut "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" scored big this weekend.
Actor Steve Carell's comedy easily beat back the competition, taking in 20-point-six (m) million dollars to debut at number one this weekend.
In second place was Wes Craven's airplane thriller "Red Eye," which raked in 16-and-a-half (m) million in its first weekend. The two new films bumped the previous weekend's top movie, "Four Brothers," to third place with 13 (m) million in receipts.
The weekend's other wide releases tanked. Disney's animated epic about heroic homing pigeons -- "Valiant" -- came in at number seven, earning six-point-one (m) million. The motorcycle-racing flick "Supercross: The Movie" opened well out of the top ten, bringing in just one-point-three (m) million.
