Arkansas Department of Education employees received active shooter and event training Wednesday.

According to KARK, this quarterly training is a part of the safety and security protocol of the department.

Employees receive an hour of instruction and an hour of simulations where they learn response techniques, like barricading office doors.

A department spokesperson says this training is important not only for active shooter events but also helps their employees know how to respond to other emergencies.
