Missed church date leads to water rescue

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A man in Baxter County was rescued from a pond after his tractor slid off the muddy edge of a levee.

Sheriff John Montgomery stated in a news release 49-year-old Eldon Cooper became trapped inside the tractor Wednesday evening. In happened near Baxter County Road 1175 north of Mountain Home.

Cooper had called his wife to meet her at church around 6 p.m. When he did not arrive, his wife went home to look for him and found the tractor on its side in the pond.

She called for help and the Clarkridge Volunteer Fire/Rescue Squad responded as well as sheriff’s deputies and the sheriff’s office diver.

Around 8:40 Cooper was heard inside the tractor.

He was rescued from the tractor cab and brought to shore.

Cooper was transported by ambulance to a Mountain Home hospital to be treated.
