JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Are you interested in bringing a community garden to your local school?

On Friday, March 23, the Arkansas Farm to School Network will host a training session at A-State's Carl R. Reng Student Union in Jonesboro.

Students across Region 8 are learning how to grow vegetables and fruit as an important part of their studies.

Arkansas Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward says a few farms even donate fresh produce to local food banks and sell to farmers' markets.

"Our regional local Conversation events were well received in 2017 and we are pleased to expand them this year with additional training on the Farm to School program," Ward said.

This event is one of several across the state geared to help local farmers and producers connect with the community as well as get exposure for locally grown crops.
