A five-vehicle crash on I-40 near West Memphis claimed the life of a Mississippi woman Thursday.
According to a post on the Arkansas State Police website, Carla Jean Baker of Hickory Flat, Miss. was a passenger in a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck going west on I-40 when the crash happened around 11:20 a.m. March 1.
The preliminary fatality report noted a 2015 Kenworth truck was going west on I-40, approaching the 269-mile marker when the Dodge Ram, a 2004 Nissan Frontier, a 2014 Freightliner and a 2016 Volvo had been going west but were stopped for traffic congestion.
The Kenworth struck the back of the Dodge Ram, causing a chain reaction, according to ASP.
The weather was cloudy and the roads were dry at the time of the accident.
