SEARCY, AR (KAIT) -

Hundreds of people were recently on the campus of Harding University to grant a wish for an 11-year-old Searcy girl who was diagnosed with a critical illness.

The members of the Harding University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee worked with Make-A-Wish Mid-South to help Alissa Carter. The committee was able to raise over $8,000 for the wish, which involved building a fairy-themed treehouse for the girl.

The girl and her family went to Searcy Feb. 25 and visited the campus. She thought she was going to receive an award for a coloring contest.

Instead, she saw that her wish had been granted.

Her father, Robert Carter, said his daughter was happier than she has ever been when she noticed the wish had been granted.

Natural State Treehouses, based in Fayetteville, will be building the treehouse and will install it at Alissa's home.
