JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Law enforcement officers spent Tuesday night waiting tables in support of the Special Olympics.

Jonesboro police officers, parole and probation officers, and firefighters worked alongside the wait staff at Colton's Steakhouse for Tip a Hero night.

The tips officers earned will benefit the Special Olympics.

"We couldn't do it without them," Therese Book, Northeast Arkansas field representative for Special Olympics Arkansas, said. "They make such a difference and it's not just on the fundraising efforts, but it's the friendship and the relationships they build with our athletes because if our athletes are ever in trouble they know they're comfortable and feel at lease being around our first responders and law enforcement.

Book said she is thankful for the first responders who help raise money and come to Special Olympic events.

She is also thankful for the community's response at the event Tuesday night.
