JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

According to Jonesboro police Cpl. David McDaniel, a runaway 9-year-old child was found safe and sound at a friend's home Wednesday night.

Both Jonesboro police and school officials spent Wednesday attempting to locate Jacorey Holliman.

In a statement to Region 8 News, Jonesboro police got a call around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday about a juvenile male familiar to the caller on foot near Caraway Road and Highland Drive.

"The caller attempted to contact the juvenile and he ran away. The caller met with responding officers at a nearby parking lot and were unable to locate him. The juvenile's mother was contacted and it was confirmed that the juvenile had not come home from school," McDaniel said.

Earlier, police said Holliman had been last seen in the 1500 block of East Highland Drive near the Mall at Turtle Creek. Also, mall security personnel were notified and began looking for the child.

Police had been also concerned about the child being outside in cold temperatures Wednesday night.
