POINSETT COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Poinsett County was just approved for funds to update two bridges and fully replace another.

Judge Bob Cantrell said the bridges on White Road and Wildcat Road will likely see construction within the next couple of months. Those two bridges will receive upgrades.

Cantrell said he's been meeting with Craighead County Judge Ed Hill to talk about partnering on the project on White Road.

The bridge on Punkin Center Road will be completely replaced.

Cantrell said the wooden bridge needs to be taken out to make it safe for the school bus that regularly crosses.

"School buses do cross that bridge and it's an old wooden bridge," Cantrell said. "That's the one the state is doing the engineering and all of the work on."

Because the state is taking the lead on that construction, Cantrell is not sure when it will begin.

Cantrell said these updates will make all three bridges a lot safer.
