JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Finance and Administration Committee has sent an ordinance that modifies the definition of the motel-hotel tax to include residential business rentals to the full city council.
The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotions Commission hopes it would make an even playing field for hotels and online rentals.
Currently, the city collects a 3% tax on hotel and motel rentals. The ordinance would also make residential business rentals, such as Airbnb, collect the 3% tax as well.
The finance and administration committee voted to move the ordinance to the full Jonesboro City Council.
