WHITE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Police say a man wanted in a Missouri shooting tried to kill himself after leading officers on a high-speed chase down U.S. Highway 67.

The pursuit, according to Arkansas State Police, started in Bald Knob Wednesday night and ended in Beebe with multiple law enforcement officers surrounding the suspect's vehicle as he attempted to take his own life.

Phillip Stroisch, 42, of Chesterfield, MO was critically wounded when he shot himself after crashing his vehicle into patrol vehicles, ASP stated in a Thursday news release.

After White County medical personnel stabilized him, Stroisch was taken to a Little Rock hospital.

ASP's Criminal Investigation Division has been asked to investigate the shooting incident.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Stroisch was wanted by St. Louis County police for a felony assault. Police there alleged he shot into a home early Tuesday morning, injuring two people inside.
