POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - The Randolph County Health Unit will soon be back open after major flooding forced its closure in May 2017.
Crews have been working quickly to get the building back up and running.
Since the flood, the health unit has been run out of a building across from the Randolph County Courthouse.
County Judge David Jansen said employees are looking forward to being back in the facility.
"They've done a wonderful job over there providing the serviced they do," he said. "Just getting them back in their environment, more space, more exam rooms, it's just going to be better on them, better on our citizens."
Work began on the health unit once crews completed repairs to the nearby BRAD kitchen.
Jansen says both buildings were repaired quickly and he is thankful for the hard work done on the facilities.
"Both of them play very important roles in Randolph County," he said.
Jansen said the Randolph County Health Unit should re-open by the end of March.
