A group of Lawrence County officials was locked up at the new jail Friday night.

It was part of the Citizen's Arrest fundraiser. For the fundraiser, each official had their own donation jar in the county clerk's office.

Residents were invited to drop money into the donation jars and the three officials who collected the most money were tasked with spending the night in the new jail.

However, more than the top three agreed to be locked up Friday night.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Yates and County Judge John Thomison were two of the officials who were locked up.

"It was kind of scary," Yates said. "I didn't like being locked up with the county judge. It was a little different. We couldn't get out."

"No, I told him we should run-but he wouldn't listen," Judge Thomison added.

The group raised over $1,000, which will be divided among six other charities in Lawrence County.
